The immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, has died at age 70 after battling coronavirus-related symptoms for a month,   Ajimobi, who was governor from 2011 to 2019, was named the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the ruling All Progressives Congress last month but never resumed. " id="primary"> The former governor was hospitalised at First Cardiologist and Cardiovascular Consultants Hospital, Lagos on June 2, 2020. He was said to have tested negative for COVID-19 but the illness had caused his health to deteriorate.

The Plateau State Government says it views with grave concern the rise in the rate of infection of the Corona virus in the State following the ease of lockdown exercise. This it says is essentially is due to the flagrant disregard to the laid down protocols as it affects this dreaded monster, by a sizeable population of the State. The Government therefore warns that it will not hesitate to restore the lockdown earlier lifted by Governor Simon Bako Lalong as it views with dismay the non-compliance with regards to the wearing of face masks, social distancing, hand washing and the use of sanitizers. The former Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi has died at the age of 70. Ajimobi who was recently appointed as the Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress by the National Working Committee of the party died due to Coronavirus complications. The former lawmaker fell ill after testing positive to Coronavirus and was reported to be in a critical condition before the time of his death. He ruled Oyo State for eight years before he was appointed by Adams Oshiomhole as the Deputy National Chairman (South-West) of APC. Ajimobi was a former Managing director at the National Oil and Chemical Marketing Company, a subsidiary of Shell Petroleum Company.

The Federal Government has suspended a charter and aircraft maintenance firm, Executive Jet Services, for flying Musician, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley, to Abuja to attend a concert. The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said this during the Presidential Task Force briefing in Abuja on Monday. Sirika said the aircraft which conveyed the musician was supposed to fly an Appeal Court Judge, Justice Adefope Okogie, from Lagos to Abuja. He said, “The operation is a clear violation of our approval which we take very seriously. It seems this is becoming a norm. This is the second time. So, Executive Jet Services is hereby suspended indefinitely and they will face the law. “The captain will also be sanctioned for giving wrong information to the control tower. Lagos Senator Bayo Osinowo is dead. He died in Lagos today of complications from COVID-19. He was 64 years old. The four-time Lagos House of Assembly member was elected a senator in 2019. He was representing Lagos East constituency in the Senate. Osinowo, famously called Pepperito was born in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State on 28 November 1955. He had his early education in Ijebu-Ode at St. Augustine Primary School and Isonyin Grammar School. After his graduation in Isonyin, Osinowo worked with the Federal Ministry of Works till 1979. He then set up his own businesses where he was managing director. Osinowo also spent some years in Italy studying building technology, according to his bio published by Wikipedia. Osinowo was part of the June 12 campaign and was arrested by the DSS, spending months in detention, until Sani Abacha’s death in 1998. I'm tired of hearing preposterous and stunning statements like " COVID 19 is a scam"  "NCDC is dishing out mythical figures, corona doesn't exist."  Even a state governor once said the Federal Government is marketing coronavirus. To end these shenanigans here's my candid viewpoint.  The government should hands-off on everything  COVID 19. Schools, hotels, market places, worship centres, clubs should be allowed to reopen and run in full capacity. All social activities and events should be allowed to operate without restraints, wearing of face mask be discretionary. Travel restrictions and lockdowns relaxed. Let every activity return to normal. Testing, isolation and quarantine centres should close down. Let's pretend corona doesn't exist.  If anyone gets infected he should seek for test and treatment just as we do with malaria and typhoid.  Private sanitariums should be allowed to run tests and treatment.
